Hi folks,
Sometimes we feel that unless we stop sleeping entirely the whole world is going to pass us by...case in point? Checking the goings-on this morning and finding that we've got a brand new mac mini, new apps, iPhone 4 announcements and a savior for AT&T--and it all happened in a six hour period starting at 3am.
We're not relishing the thought of less sleep but how can you not get excited about that news?
Mac mini Arrives
And in full on aluminum glory to boot...looking very similar to the Apple TV console, we might add! It's gotten more than just a makeover, though, and in addition to a now necessary HDMI port the smallest desktop in the Apple family received an NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics processor and the capability to upgrade to 8GB of RAM via a newly designed access point. Sound like a dream? Well, at this point, you're awake, so go grab the 2.4GHz Mac mini with 320GB of storage for $699 or try out the Mac mini server with 2.66GHz and dual 500GB HD for $999.
Also overnight, the Apple Store became available in the App Store. We know, it looks confusing. But now yo can indulge all of your impulse buys in one easy click, and we're sure going to be poorer for the access.
iPhone 4 Pre-Orders Begin
If you were busy psyching yourself up for the big day we've got good news and we've got bad news. Good news first? The brand spanking new iPhone 4 is beautiful, incredible, totally improved and available for pre-order. Bad news?
You can only order the black version.
Total bummer, we know! The white version is "currently unavailable for pre-order or in-store pickup" with no word on coming availability. Patience, grasshoppers...we'll keep an eye on it for you.
Starbucks Saves
We knew their coffee and ubiquitous locations have saved us many times over, but now that the caffeine king is offering free Wi-Fi connections in retail locations come July 1st, they might just be saving AT&T! Wireless hotspots are always around, but with signal strength and closed networks getting on one is never assured. But here we are, after being handed a data plan that cramps our style, suddenly able to get our coffee fix and internet fix in one place. Starbucks will certainly sell more beverages based on this move, because as of yet we know very few brave and/or bold and/or rude enough to wander in and plunk down without coughing up some cash.
Will this get you into Starbucks more frequently? Tell us on Twitter!
Till tomorrow, Newsies...
