Morning, Newsies--

We are back on track, in like Flynn, and on like Donkey Kong from here on out. Pinky swear. Jumping back into the news, we've got a busy day to relate to you, and mirabile dictu: it is a wonder to tell. First up, the HTC beast rears its ugly head, AmEx's Daily Wish has toys you want/need and AT&T says sorry for letting hackers have your email. Just another day!

HTC vs. Apple
It's been a while since we had a good old fashioned lawsuit featured in this prominent first place slot, and we'd like to extend that dubious honor to the ever-increasing war between HTC and Apple! Friday, the U.S. International Trade Commission agreed to investigate HTC's claim that Apple is currently infringing on five of its patents. Which ones are in question isn't in the public domain, so to speak but the ITC hints: "The products at issue in this investigation are portable electronic devices that utilize certain power management methods and may incorporate hardware and software for telephone directories within mobile telephone systems." Very helpful, guys.

The agency has 45 days to set a date to complete the investigation and just goes to show how competitive and crazy this smart phone market has gotten. We wonder what kind of wrench the iPhone 4 is going to throw in HTC's plans!

AmEx Daily Wish
We can't help it--we love sales! And deals and "insider specials" and...you get the picture. So when we can let you know about them and pass the information on it makes our day; today's a good tip, with Altec Lansing's MIX Digital Boombox up for sale this Thursday. The boombox retails for $230 but there are 15 up for grabs at $149.50...and it is ridiculously cool looking. It fits iPhone and iPod, has mega-enhanced bass and digital FM radio; also, if you find yourself longing for the old days of hefting your boombox onto your shoulder and hitting the streets you're in luck! This baby runs on battery power as well as AC. Oh yeah.
AT&T's Latest BooBoo
So 114,000 email addresses later, AT&T us apologizing for a security breach that could put some very high profile email addresses at risk! Spokespeople state that only the addresses themselves and the SIM card serial numbers of the folk's iPads were compromised, but c'mon now...if the hackers already have your email they can probably figure out more from there! The hole was plugged "within hours" according to reports, but the damage done to AT&T's reputation is harmful. Thankfully the exploit was found by a computer security firm and not actual hackers; even so, AT&T is blaming the firm for stealing the information and they've already been contacted by the FBI.

We can't wait to see how that all turns out.
