Apple In The News
Apple, Mac, & iPhone News...

January 28th, 2010

Morning, all,

What? You want a little more tablet talky?

Ohhh-kay...

Hey, Good Lookin'
Hank Williams Jr. asked the question, we're just repeating it! What does the iPad have cookin' under that gorgeous 9.7" screen and oleophobic coating for you neat freaks?

A display framed with black aluminum and glass is 9.7 inches, LED backlit, IPS and Multi-touch. IPS has generally been reserved for extraordinarily pricey monitors for graphic artists but Apple had brought it to you. In-plane Switching is the full name, and it gives you wide viewing angles and great color reproduction (which will come in handy with Brushes, right??) by making the crystal molecules move parallel to the plane of the screen instead of perpendicular.

Two wireless options (Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi plus AT&T 3G), a brand spanking new Apple A4 chip, a battery that'll last you ten hours per charge and three levels of flash storage are enough to make your head spin...and that's before we've even gotten into applications.

Specifically re-tooled Keynote, Pages and Numbers to increase productivity so you can (try to) balance work time with play time.

And That's Not All
A fully customizable home screen, built in speakers, and the new processor that makes iPad move at the speed of light are only the tip of th iceberg, but we're going to go ahead and say that the best is yet to come. The new SDK kit made all these features available to the extraordinarily talented developers across the world and, as much as iPad can do already its functionality and usefulness is going to explode as people figure out new ways for us to use it.

Are you signed up for availability notifications yet? Let us know on Twitter.

Till Monday, Newsies...and if you're in the mood for something inappropriate, YouTube Mad TV's iPad spoof. Careful though...we warned you...
