Apple In The News
Apple, Mac, & iPhone News...

January 14th, 2010

Morning folks,

Interesting, funny and off-putting all at the same time, this morning we discovered the unthinkable:

The Woz is cheating on Apple.

Not Your Average Fan
Of course Steve Wozniak still carries the iPhone (two, in fact) but the NBC Bay Area article stating his new love for the Nexus One is shocking enough...until you read the comment user SteveWoz posted afterward:

"ha ha...I buy most of the significant gadgets that come out...I did not buy an Android right away but I did like the looks of the Motorola Droid so I bought it. When you buy a gadget and it works without hours of figuring things out, it's a joy. At different points in time you'll find me with different Blackberries and other phones.

At the time of this interview I carried 2 iPhones (battery and multitasking fixed) and the Droid on my belt. And I do enjoy the Droid and it does my normal stuff fine, but it will take some time to find apps equal to some that are important on my iPhones. When the Nexus One came out I put the Droid aside and shifted to checking out the Nexus One. I'm always on the watch for the latest hot gadgets. When I don't like new gadgets, I keep my mouth shut. It's better to focus on the good. I'm not the conflict type of person so I don't try to get into arguments you never win about which is better. But if I only carried my iPhones, I wouldn't have as good an idea of how others do with their alternate choices....Woz"

He's not cheating--he's just got a wandering eye! Now if we had a nickle for every time we heard that and believed it...oh, nevermind.

More on China
We've been pretty mum on this subject because we keep hoping if we ignore it it will go away...no such luck with the latest news coming out of China. What could possibly be so severe theat Google is willing to walk away from the largest market of internet users in the world?

Corporate espionage, and apparently a lot of it.

Not only is the thought of huge company's sensitive information being stolen terrifying, but Chief Legal Officer David Drummond posted earlier this week that they "have evidence to suggest that a primary goal of the attackers was accessing the Gmail accounts of Chinese human rights activists.”

General consensus? That sucks almost as much as the info-stealing, 'cause we're pretty sure we know what happens to human rights activists in China. It seems the other major intent of the attacks, which were centered on finance and technology giants, was to obtain intellectual property to jumpstart China's own technological innovations.

More to come on this we're sure.

Should Google go? Give us your two cents here.

Till Monday, Newsies...
