Apple In The News
Apple, Mac, & iPhone News...

December 16th, 2009

Hi y'all,

We guess the old adage is true--when it rains, it pours. Yesterday's revelations concerning Operation Chokehold were newsworthy for sure but the stuff we've got for you today is so much stranger it's in a different category completely!

Love Plus
Perhaps you've heard of the Nintendo DS game, available so far only in Japan: it's a dating simulator where you get 100 days to get one of the girls to admit they like you...if you can do that, things progress. Rapidly. Maybe it's the culture...maybe there's something in the water...but a young man who prefers to go by his online name of Sal9000 is just days away from his one month anniversary with Nene. His wedding anniversary. With a character in a video game.

While Sal understands his marriage is not valid and Nene isn't real, he's been quoted as saying "I only want Nene now...she's better than a human girl." Sal isn't the extreme--the globe is socializing more and more online and it's getting harder to express your feelings in real life...take the time this holiday season to tell all your friends and family (virtual or not!) that you love 'em. We know we will!

EU Drops Case
In another law-based news flash (we know, there are a bajillion) the European Union has dropped its anti-trust case against Microsoft because the internet giant has mended its ways: they've stopped bundling Internet Explorer with Windows. Now, the OS will offer buyers eleven browser choices and the world will see if Internet Explorer was chosen based on merit or because it was the easiest option! Of course, folks have always been able to choose their browser, but maybe now that the screen to pick one will be shoved at them Internet Explorer's 62% of the European market share will fall...only time will tell.

And Now For Something...
Completely different....you know. We're actually gonna link this one because you can't get the full epic scope of this unless you watch the video with translation. Dutch singers Sjarrel and Sjaan have recorded a Christmas carol. Yup, "Christmas in Cupertino" is here, on iTunes, available for purchase...with all funds going straight to the Dutch Liver Foundation in honor of Steve Jobs' transplant.

Strange and wonderful. Happy holidays!!

Ever write a song for Steve? Tell us on Twitter.

Till tomorrow, Newsies...
